David I Urbina holds a Ph.D. in Software Engineering and a M.S. in Computer Science with a Major in Software Engineering from the University of Texas at Dallas. He also holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Universidad Simón Bolívar, Venezuela.

Currently, he is a Security Researcher at Intel Corporation where he is responsible for the secure design, development and operation of hardware and software products and services on the area of  Internet-of-Things (IoT).

His research and professional interests fall on the areas of IoT security, Industrial Control Systems (ICS) security, and Software Security Development. 

As a member of the Safety & Security Committee of the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT), he has helped to raise awareness about the Cyber-security risks and countermeasures on the water and waste water industry. 

Member of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), IEEE and Golden Key International Honour Society.
